Over the last two decades, Chile has made great progresses in reducing its poverty rate, which is now lower than most Latin American countries. New challenges are now serious income inequality and unequal access to quality education; this changes will continue the modernization of the society. Chile has slowly become attractive to immigrants since transitioning to democracy in 1990 and improving its economic stability. Most of new migrants come from other South American countries, and more recently from Haiti
